Flags on 57th Street, Winter 1918:
As we wrap up our research papers and start getting ready for the big presentation
tomorrow it is amazing to see how much we have bonded together over these 6 weeks. Childe Hassam has painted this painting. It is called Flags on 57th Street. Its a newand different type of painting of its time. Something that makes this painting unique is the French Impressionism used in this painting. We can see that this picture is unique because of the brush strokes used to show people and the common things that we see in our everyday lives. It is a perspective changing painting because this painting has a political side which was very appealing to me. When I look at this painting it reminds me of how the United States really helped out its allies during World War I,which I really liked because this painting forced me to think about this. This shows me that history isn’t just articles of a newspaper. History can also be shown through a painting.
